It’s incredible how a goal can be so far away and then the next thing you know, you’re running out of time. After the Gathering of Hope on December 4th, I sat down with my outline and started printing out old journals.
I needed to do something drastic. Writing a book is a lonely process, especially a book that involves digging into your own past. I spoke to my friend Melissa about an idea I had and then acted on it. Basically, I’ve brought in reinforcements – Matt George – to help me write as much as I can before the deadline I set for myself.
It’s not that Matt will be doing any of the writing, but he’s going to be there with me to bounce ideas of, help with research (going through old journals), and piecing things together. Yesterday, we had our first ‘session’ you could say. I went to his place and bunked onto a very comfortable couch. First, Matt gave me a crystallized stone to hold onto and then he poured me a glass of water mixed with chlorophyll. There was tea and orchestral music from Lord of the Rings involved later on. We worked until four in the morning and it was one of the most productive evenings I’ve had of writing in a long time.
Session two is tomorrow.
